Consider this a public service announcement on behalf of cooks everywhere.
If you know someone who cooks, who is passionate about food and hosts meal after fabulous meal – please invite them to dinner.
Chances are, the cooks in your life have become the go-to hosts for gatherings and celebrations. And, they’re probably not complaining.
Preparing a meal for friends or family is an opportunity to share something you love with people you love. But even the most ardent kitchen-geek appreciates being on the receiving end of a good meal from time to time. It doesn’t have to be fancy or complicated.
In fact, one of my favourite meals was prepared by my two nieces, who called my office one day to find out what time I’d be home, because they wanted to cook supper. Chicken fingers, a bagged salad and Swiss Chalet sauce made for a memorable, wonderful and deeply appreciated meal.
It might seem intimidating, but anyone who truly loves food understands that an invitation to share a meal is rare and precious gift.
So, take the time to feed a cook. I promise you won’t regret it.
